FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The animals at the Dallas Zoo are sprucing up their habitats and grooming their feathers, fur, and scales in anticipation of welcoming you to Zoo To Do on Saturday! To help you plan for the festive evening, we’ve put together a list of FAQs for your reference. Have you been wondering where to park or what to wear? What happens if it rains or if a meteor hits the Zoo during Zoo To Do? Find out the answers to these and other burning questions below!
Where is Zoo To Do?
Zoo To Do will be held at the Dallas Zoo, located at 650 S. R. L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75203. Look for the big giraffe statue and enter though the main entrance gate just off of I35E and Marsalis Ave.
What time does Zoo To Do start?
The welcome reception starts at 5:30 p.m. Click here to see the full schedule.
Is Zoo To Do kid friendly?
No one loves the Zoo more than kids, but Zoo To Do is an adults only event. Alcohol will be served.
Where should I park?
Great news! Thanks to our awesome valet sponsor, Highland Park Village, you can pull right up to the front of the Zoo and our great valet team will relieve you of your vehicle while you enjoy the party. As an added bonus, they will bring it back to you at the end of the night.
What should I wear?
Safari Chic attire.
What the heck is “Safari Chic attire?”
First and foremost, we stress comfortable shoes. The event will be held outside in the Wilds of Africa at the Zoo, which is roughly half of our 100+ acre Zoo. Beyond shoes, Safari Chic could include a khaki button down, an animal print dress, or a safari vest. Let us know if you’re still looking for more details on Safari Chic – we can send you a little primer.
What happens if it rains?
If weather prevents us from hosting Zoo To Do outside at the Zoo, don’t fret! Our backup plan is to move the event to Gilley’s. Gilley’s is located at 1135 S. Lamar Street Dallas, TX 75215. We’ll make “the call” on Thursday, Nov. 2 based on what forecasts look like – keep an eye/ear on inboxes and voicemails for notification from our team if our plans should need to change.
Where do I check in at Zoo To Do?
When you arrive at Zoo To Do, you will check-in at the front of the Zoo in the entry plaza by the fountain. From there, you’ll hop on a tram to take you over to the event area. Don’t worry, you won’t need to bring a physical ticket. If you have purchases a ticket or a table, your name will be on our list. We are a conservation organization and choose not to have printed tickets for this event.
What’s for dinner?
The Zoo is excited to host more than 25 of Dallas’s finest chefs. Each chef will have a station in the Giants of the Savanna where guests will take part in a strolling dinner sampling fabulous cuisine. Click here to see a list of participating chefs.
What if I have a dietary restriction?
We’ve worked with our chefs to provide a variety of options. You are welcome to talk to each chef about their specific food items.
Can I bring my beloved cat Fluffy or my loyal dog Max to the party?
Nobody gets the love you have for your pet more than we do, but we ask that you leave your furry family member at home. You wouldn’t want them to show you up on the dance floor.
Will the animals be out in their habitats during Zoo To Do?
Some of our on-exhibit animals will be out, but it’s bedtime once dark rolls around. We WILL have our Animal Adventures Outreach team joining us for Zoo To Do, though, so you’ll have a chance to touch and even feed some of our animal friends.
Who is the band?
Emerald City All Stars will perform so come ready to dance!
What happens if a meteor hits the Zoo during Zoo To Do?
Well, we will all likely all be flattened, but at least we had a heck of a good time before the end.
How will the Zoo To Do auction work?
This year, we are trying something new. The silent auction will take place exclusively online starting Wednesday, Oct. 25. On that date, an email giving you access to bid on items will be sent out to all Zoo members. The online silent auction will close the night of Zoo To Do. Our Big Board will still be featured the night of the event only. And, of course, our exciting Live Auction will take place as usual. You will want to be there to see what exciting items we have for you this year.
